Whats the best way too get rid of migraines
Sumatriptan succinate, a relatively new drug, and its relatives are available in pill form or via injection or nasal spray. This drug has offered dramatic relief to many migraine sufferers who fail to respond adequately to other medications. Individuals with a history of heart disease or other vascular conditions are advised to use extra caution, however. If used inappropriately, this drug can have serious side effects.
Prevention
Prevention of migraines is possible with several types of medication. Antidepressant drugs and beta-blockers have been shown to prevent migraines in some patients.
These drugs work in the body to block what are called the beta effects, one of which is dilation of the blood vessels. Drugs known as calcium-channel blockers, such as verapamil, nifedipine, and diltiazem, are also effective in the prevention of migraines. While it is not yet known exactly how these drugs provide relief, research suggests that they act by preventing the initial constriction of blood vessels that causes migraine.
See your regular doctor and get a referral for a neurologist.
The newer medications are 'great'.
Eat better, healthier foods. I always get migraines when I eat out.
To get rid of it once you have it take Alka-Selter and drink plenty of water.
That should help. Hope you feel better!!
You can't permanently get rid of Migraines. Migraine is a genetic neurological disease with no known cure at this time. Your best bet is to find a doctor who truly understands the disease and how to treat it. Many doctors don't. There's the triptans class of drugs such as Imitrex that work in the brain to stop a Migraine attack and its symptoms. These meds shouldn't be take more than 2 or 3 days a week because they can cause rebound headaches. If you have more than 2 or 3 a month, talk to a good doctor about preventive medications. Also, if you haven't already, keep a Migraine diary to help you discover your triggers. Some triggers are avoidable, and trigger management should be the first line of defense. Good luck.
The best way to feel relieve is: No light, be in a dark quiet place, cover your eyes if possible go to bed and try to be relax and try to sleep if possible. Do not talk, take phone calls, or anything else. Some os us start vomiting. If that happens drink, 7up or Sprite no food. Drink something recommended by your physician. There are several medications over the counter, and the best ones will need a prescription by your physician. Consult your doctor.
me personally i take two asprins get a wash cloth soak it with cold water ring it out go in my room lay on my bed in the total darkness with the wash cloth over my eyes and my arm over it to aply some pressure and go to sleep and in a few hours its gone i have been doing this for years i make sure there is also total silence and i try to relax and go to sleep i also do this for sinus head aches too
I have tried all of the over the counter pills and trust me they don't work! You have to go to your doctor and get about 5 different perscriptions before you find the pill that works for you. But when you finally find it, its like heaven.
