The body is indeed both self-healing and self-regulating. Self-healing means that if you cut your finger, there will be an influx of white blood cells which rush to the site to initiate healing. Self-regulating implies that the body does well to upkeep a process called "homeostasis". An example would be the homeostasis of temperature. There are cooling techniques when a body becomes too hot and there are heating processes when a body is too cold.
