Answer:

As already stated, it is good for relaxtion without drowsiness. I just started taking it as an antianxiety help. I didn't want to get a prescription for something if I could help change the way I feel with supplements and changing my eating habits.

What a difference it has made. I feel so much more even. I don't have rapid mood swings, I don't get angry, I feel like I have a ton more patience, and most importantly, I feel happier. My husband is detoxing right now off of marijuana, and the addition of L-Theanine has really helped him battle the detox demon without freaking out.

Moods- to calm. It's an amino acid
L-Theanine is a free form amino acid found only in the tea plant and in mushrooms.

It is used for relaxation and health promotion. Research is still being done on its use in:

-decreasing PMS symptoms

-improving learning performance

-promoting concentration

-supporting the immune system

-lowering blood pressure

Side note: L-Theanine adds a brothy or savory taste when added to coffee, water, tea, etc. It also decreases the bitter taste of coffee. It takes effect within 30mins. of consumption and has no known cautions or drug interactions.

Hope this helps.....good luck.

It is a naturally occurring amino acid which promotes alpha wave generation in the brain. Alpha waves promote an awake, alert and relaxed physical and mental state. L-Theanine is made from the amino acid L-Glutamine. Interestingly, green tea contains one of the highest levels of L-Theanine which may help to explain why drinking green tea will not cause the jitters like other caffeinated drinks.

What are its benefits?

The FDA allows the following function/structure claims:

Promotes relaxation

Promotes relaxation without drowsiness

Helps promote a restful, relaxed state

Promotes a sense of relaxation

Reduces stress

Helps to reduce stress

There are also some scientific studies that show it may help regulate blood pressure levels. Check out this site too, which recommends the supplement not be used during pregnancy or lactation: http://www.pdrhealth.com/drug_info/nmdru...
