i don't have cough drops or peppermints...i don't want to gargle with salt water...please tell me there's another way to help it feel better!!!??? thanks
Answer:Simply drinking hot drinks will help. I know it sounds odd, cold drinks do feel better; However, hot drinks melt away the mucus and bacteria that are making your throat sore. Drink hot tea, decaf coffee, or even just hot water with lemon and/or honey. Cold drinks will only thicken the mucus.
Be sure to stay away from drinking dairy while you have a sore throat. The dairy cultures will "curdle" in the swollen tissues and make your throat more sore.

a pinch of lemon in a tbsp of honey, or hot lemon tea.

Well my very first thought was warm salt water but since you don't want to do that Maybe drink a cup of warm tea and see if it helps.

Salt and vinegar potato chips! the first two or three sting but it gets rid of the sore throat.
Go to the grocery store and buy a plastic lemon. Squirt it directly onto the back of your sore throat, on the sorest part. It doesn't help get rid of the sore throat, but after that the sore throat actually feels pleasurable in comparison. I suggest you do it outdoors so you don't go through your roof.
