i can't seem to get over this cold and was wondering if the food i'm eating had anything to do with it. i know the wine i drank set me back and i haven't had a beer in 3 weeks...
Answer:Histamines are not found in foods.... and they wouldn't cause a "cold" anyway.
Histamines are found in mast cells. When they are released they cause itching, runny nose and eyes, difficulty breathing, generalized edema..... etc.
cut out dairy for a few days
histamines have nothing to do with this. alcohol lowers your immune system and doesnt let you recover. you need lots of sleep and lots of fluids (non-alcoholic). there is nothing that will help you cure the cold so you have to tough it out. there are products that will help manage your symptoms if you want. talk to your pharmacist about them
well alcohol will put you back as it thins your blood making it harder for the white blood cells to fight off the cold. Medications don't help you get better with colds, there is no known cure, they just hide your symptoms, there are not to many things naturally that will hep do that aside from a hard candy to suck on and some hot tea.
But you can boost your immune system to help you fight it off faster. Try "Airborne" which is available at most drug stores, and coldeeze.
While I agree with one of the other answerers that histamines won't cause a cold, they could aggravate it, and it's also possible that what you think is a cold is actually more of an allergy.
