Looking for advice form mature Nurses who have successfully moved into an alternative profession.How did they accomplish the transition? What is there advice? I am thinking along the lines of complementary health practioner. I want to be able to use my existing skills & build on that.

i am a nurse although not a mature one yet!!!i have recently completed a 2yr complementary health diploma.im now a massage therapist aromatherapist reiki therapist sports therapist ans reflexologist...next i am doing acupunturethe transition was difficult at first as i missed nursing a lot but my stress levels have decreased and i am really enjoying a different slant on the caring profession

Have you looked into Thought Field Therapy?

what about hte boat that travels around the world stopping off at ports to help people in third world countries.

Midwifery?

Doula?

Teaching - you obviously have tonnes of experience which would be invaluable to new nurses.

Seriously though - Doctor's surgeries up and down the country are looking for nurses to assist in the day to day running of the practices - all sorts of skills required - too many to list.

I keep hearing nurses are in such short supply because there arent enought to teach them. Although you may need your masters for that, but hear that nurse educators are in high demand.

There are tons of schools over here for additional certifications, homeopathy, etc.....I gradually took these, with bouts of ICU training, jholistic medicine, ER training, etc. to become more well rounded. As I did so, I started looking for places that I could volunteer at that would benefit me in the direction I wanted to go into. The more you know the more valuable you are. I eventually just kind of fell into a job that I invented myself. Good luck....the world is your oyster now....

I am afraid you are unlikely to get fulfilment out of alternative therapy, most of it is bunkum and the effects are mainly psychological.

If you want a well paid job with perks try the pharmaceutical industry.
