Question about albuterol

Even though you will still experince the cough while on albuterol, it is very important that you take albuterol. Albuterol is HELPING you breath. Albuterol will not cause you any harm. Please understand that asthmatic patients use large amounts of albuterol at any given time and they have no major lasting side effects. Now, you could have some minor side effects that last 20-30 minutes after taking the albuterol. These side effects include palpitations, tremors, and hyperactivity. These side effects WILL GO AWAY and will not harm you in any way. With that being said there is another medication called Xopenex. It is a purified form of albuterol and causes less of the hyperactivity and tremors. Most insurance companies due not pay for this medication b/c albuterol is cheaper and it is very expensive (300.00 for a month supply).
