Is it safe to take a sauna/steam bath?

They say that going to sauna or steam can lower your blood pressure. Is it true? Currently my bloodpressure has increased to 130/80. It used to be 120/80

Answer:

Yes. It is still safe with a bp of 130/80. It is also a good cardiovascular exercise. But if you are hypertensive, or if your bp reaches 140/90, don't do it.

yes it can lower your Blood pressure if you remain in them to long...

vaso dilation.... and especially if you have a heart condition.....

but.. having a sauna or a steam.. is NOT the way to treat high blood pressure...

not exactly sure of the exact physiological effects of it on ya, but

I know dehydration can become a problem rather quickly, and

I know you are not supposed to be the for long.

Sure it's safe... Just don't stay in there for a long period of time. And make sure that you drank some water before going in there so you don't dehydrate yourself.
Saunas are very good for you. Sauna helps your body sweat, and sweating is one good way your body has of removing toxins.

If you want to lower your blood pressure; watch your diet (eat good wholesome foods), meditate, and do some light form of exercize. I would recommend Pillates. Qigong, Tai Chi, or Yoga.
