...

Yet since the amount necessary to cause diarrhea is not within the normal supplementation range and no other toxicity symptoms have been reported in the literature, in 1998, when the Institute of Medicine at the National Academy of Science reviewed vitamin B5, they did not issue a Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL)."

Hope this is of some help to you.

Now I'm off to see if it will help adult acne (yeah, it comes back with menopause - drat it!)

The answer may be here.
Over Dose. dont attempt.
That dose is used to treat certain medical conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, but only under a physician's care. Usually, the water soluble vitamins are fairly safe. Remember that the fat soluble vitamins are dangerous to take more than recommended daily amounts. The fat soluble vitamins are easy to remember as the word "ADEK's" . . .vitamins, A, D, E, and K. Here's a good site with an overview of B5:

too much tooo much too much!

are you sure its not 10 mg??? around 100mg would be the safer upper dosage i'd suggest

It s not to much just spread it out over the day when ingesting.
The recommended average intake of pantothenic acid is between 10 -15 milligrams a day. Therapeutic dosages usually range from 50 to 200 milligrams per day. Taking 300 milligrams of pantethine three times a day may lower cholesterol. A more than normal amount of pantothenic acid may be needed after injury, severe illness, or antibiotic therapy.
Some people have reported adverse effects of megadosing B5, with side effects including gatrointestinal problems, chronic fatigue, hair loss, and anxiety attacks, amongst others. These reports are anecdotal (dig around for them on the web), and many more people seem to report positive experiences with B5, but is it worth the risk?

I mean, you're putting 10,000 mg (over 2000 times the rda!) of pantothenic acid into your body. Nobody really knows if this practice is safe, no long term studies have been done.

Acne sucks, but your health is far more important. The internet is not your most reliable source here.

See what your doctor says.
