How many types or ways can tinnitus be heard
And what are some treament options.
Answer:My Dad has had Tinnitus for about 6yrs and he says it's like continuous buzzing in his ear.
He sent away for lots of information and we've found the only thing that seems to help is playing Classical music extremely low on an MP3/ipod for several hours a day.
Because it's only just hearable in your ear you are still able to do everyday things and you can even have it going while your sleeping.
It take a couple of days to start working but if my Dad goes a couple of days without it, he'll be hitting his ears to stop the noise.
There are many different tinnitus "sounds", like buzzing, ringing, sirens, low or high pitched sounds, etc. Once or twice I've even heard dog barkings in my head.
And as for treatments.... Sometimes turning on some music or sounds like the TV will help. Also, there are other things that can cause tinnitus, like too much salt or sugar, too much caffine, etc.
I am not familiar with the cause but suspect that one of the contributors could be muscles.

I hear/heard every sound there is. A few of them constant. Some appear from I don't know where and I hate that. I hear a sort of fax machine type of thing, the broadcast single, crickets, and oh, I just heard maybe something like the sound from the original war of the worlds, those old alien movies and there laser ray gun. I think that's what it is. That sound goes up and down. Like fade in fade out. Lets see. . . what else. . .

I believe at one point or another I've heard all of them. Music is nice but that's more in my head (oh so is the ringing) but I rather have a bad song stuck in my head and some conversations with people that I don't talk to then listen to the ringing in my head.
