I just can't stop and yeah i know its not going to give me arthritous but i dont want to have an urge to crack my knuckles at serious times for much longer it gets annoying

Answer:

It takes 3 weeks to break a habit. You must reward yourself with something very nice (a new guitar, stereo, etc.) if you can go for 3 weeks without cracking your knuckles. You should also plan on some short-term rewards like going to a movie, or having an ice cream sundae, if you make it through each day.

Good luck! I've been cracking my knuckles for 35 years. You don't want to do that!

Sounds like a nervous habit. Whenever you do something relaxing like reading a book or resting, see if you're cracking your knuckes. Chances are you're not, and you can concentrate on those times whenever you feel like doing it. I have some nervous tics myself, and sometimes just forcing yourself to not give in, and thinking of something to do that will get your mind off of it works. It's like biting your nails. Quit for a few weeks, and you may have it broken.
