I want some cures for a sore throat...i can barely talk right now and i am gonna be in a play...and we have our first read through soon...so give me some cures i could use.....

Answer:

Complete vocal rest for as many days as you have before the read through. Write everything down. Laryngitis is viral so you have to let it run it's course. You should go to the store and buy a tea called Throat Coat......it has a combination of slippery elm and licorice (both very soothing to inflamed vocal chords), do not do the standard tea and lemon routine as it is acidic and drying, if you don't have a humidifier and have radiators you could put wet towels over them, slippery elm lozenges (no menthol lozenges they are very drying) and lots and lots of water. If you are still hoarse for the read through you should explain that you have laryngitis, you can actually permanently damage your voice if you aren't careful. Also, see your doctor to make sure you don't have anything more serious. See an ENT if it doesn't clear up but I would steer clear of steriod treatments, they only mask the problem. Good luck to you.

Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

Gargle with warm salt water (1 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of water).

Suck on throat lozenges or hard candy (low in sugar).

Eat soft foods.

Suck on Popsicles.

Use a humidifier.

Drink lots of fluids.
