Have you ever given Plasma and what is it like

Answer:

It's just like donating blood, only the process takes longer. You get a needle into a vein in your arm. White blood cells, red blood cells, etc are separated from the plasma which is why it takes longer than giving blood. Then they return the cells to your body and keep the plasma. My first trip took about 3 hours cuz they give you a mini-physical, fill out all sorts of paperwork etc. Other visits took about 2 hours. So it broke down to about $7.50 an hour, not including driving time.

i have never done it, but a friend of mine did for money several years ago and said it was a longer process and a little more painful than giving blood but it wasnt too bad
I used to give plasma twice a week when I was in highschool. You are stuck with a needle and they remove some of your blood. Your blood goes into a machine that separates the red blood cells from the plasma (plasma is mostly protein and can be replenished faster than RBC's). The machine then pumps your RBC's back into you. They usually take about 1 liter of plasma per trip to the center. There are usually TV's to watch movies on while you donate. It took me about 45 minutes each time.
