Ear Infection Home Remedy
My 5 year old has an ear infection and is in alot of pain. Since it is 8pm here I can't call his pediatrician until the morning. Is there a temporary home remedy I can do for his symptoms until I can get him on some antibiotics?
I heard somewhere that warm sweet oil works but I don't even know where to buy it and if it does in fact work.
Answer:I have a book on home remedies that I have used a lot being t hat I have 3 kids. For ear infections they recommend Tylenol or Ibuprofin and t ake you hair dryer on LOW and hold it far from his ear. Just enough to feel the warm air. That helps a lot. I have used that as well. If he gets a really high fever I would take him to the ER.
Motrin and rest....Nothing is going to work as rapid as you would like.

Yes you heard right however what I remember it to be was a teaspoon of warm olive oil. But instead of relying on what type of oil consider calling a near by Hospital and ask for the advice nurse. It is typically a free service. Or perhaps rely on a senior, senior citizen you can trust to determine the type of oil.
PS. It does work.
My doctor told me to use olive oil once... but nothing will help if he needs antibiotics.
May be Tylenol for children until tomorrow morning, for the pain.
You can alternate tylenol with motrin every 4 hours. They are different meds.
I was going to suggest the hairdryer too, but the warm olive oil will most likely do the same thing.

* Take some garlic oil and put 3 drops of grape seed extract in it and then put it in the ear. It will help to relieve the pain in the ear.
* Take Vitamin C to help boost the immune system and fight infection. Zinc reduces ear infection.
* Grind a few Holy basil leaves and extract some juice. Apply 2 drops inside the ear.
* Avoid smoking and passive smoke as much as possible.
