The antibiotics will work but they may affect the efficiency of the pill. Take extra precautions for at least 2 weeks after finishing teh course of antibiotics!

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! sorry but anti-biotics stop ur pill from working. my mate just had a baby and she`s nearly 40!! all because she didnt know that they stopped it working. be careful

If you are taking the pill you should use another form of contraceptive and for 7 days after you have finished the course of antibiotics,thats what advice the doctor gave me the last time I was on them,better to be safe because they can reduce the effectiveness of the pill.

no it doesn and it doesn work if you have been throwing up either.i was on it for 2years and that was the first thing the doctor told me

I'm a bit old for all of that now only years ago if you were taking antibiotics you were supposed to use something else, if I were you I wouldn't tempt fate and use something else

There is a small drop in contraceptive cover with a theoretical tiny risk of pregnancy. This is due to the antibiotics killing normal gut flora.

There have only been a handful of convincing reports of pregnancy occurring for this reason in the world literature.

Generally however since the risk though minuscule is real we advise using barrier contraceptives as well while on antibiotics and for a few days afterwards.

To be honest I suspect most patients I explain this to don't bother!
