Probably not. The nerves come in from the side, take a look at these pictures and you should see that if you stay close to the opening of the mouth you should be ok:

there are tiny nerves and blood vessels, my guess is that you severed a nerve.
i dont think you'd be paralyzed, but you could get a serious infection. so don't do it
If you hit the wrong nerve you will. You can also get some infections too that way. Pay the professionals and have them do it right.
