If you eat the other foods with iodine in them would you not be ok.
Answer:salt is salt. its a sodium molecule bound to a chlorine molecule. the salt you buy in the store in a big bag is usually from the sea too- they either mine it from a coastal area where there are large salt deposits from water evaporating over hundreds of years, or they just evaporate sea water and take the salt thats left behind. only difference really is there is iodine in table salt and the people that buy "sea salt" spend extra money. i doubt there are lots of extra "processing chemicals." and yes iodine is an essential mineral, but if you ate other foods with iodine you'd be ok. they put it in salt because its something everybody uses to make sure everyone gets iodine.
Sea salt is generally considered healthier because it is natural, whereas many things are added to table salt.
what were u doin in school all these years. ofcourse iodine is important and havin salt without tht wont be good. i mena it wont be harmful but wont be better for sure.....less iodine causes goitre... which is not a pretty thing
Sea salt is usually whiter, so it has aesthetic value and is usually considered cleaner from trash. Everyday table salt is mined with bulldozers. Sea salt has to be manufactured with evaporation so it does have less debris in its byproduct.
If you have to use salt sea salt is a much healthier choice. Even though iodine is important in our diets, you can get the needed amounts in other food, without having to deal with the processing chemicals which are included in regualr table salt.
you can find iodized sea salt. you can also get enough iodine from fish or seaweed. or if you eat yogurt or drink milk it will give you iodine too. plants in iodine rich soil will absorb it as well
