Using these sites is a better alternative to recieving answers than to blindly trust answers from people who may not be what they claim.....true?

I couldn't agree more. But the bottom line is, people are lazy. They would rather type a question then wait for the results instead of doing the extensive work involved on medical sites.

Some questions I can understand since some people would like to know the experience of others who have gone through an ordeal they may be currently experiencing. But general questions, or question only a doctor can answer are due to pure laziness.

I would rather speak to my doctor and "KNOW" what the problem is than come to a forum to ask a bunch of strangers who can only "GUESS" what the problem is. It depends how much some value their own lives.

That is true, but a lot of times people need the community of hearing from other people that have actually lived through what they're dealing with. I like the technical explanation, but also like the "real world" experience with things, which can tell you more than a medical site ever would.

Yes, that is true, But I think most people are genuine and want to help don't you? Also it is often better to speak with people who have the same problem or have knowledge of it. Healthcare systems don't have all the answers. I had cancer for seven years and despite complaining of it was sluffed off and beacsue I believed in the Healthcare authority I accepted it. If someone had said to me...that dow nto sound right make sure you get that seen to then I would have felt validated and made sure I got the help I needed.

i think people like to hear other people, and not get the canned scientific data that web MD spits out. it's nice to interact with others and to get their perspectives. however, i would hope nobody takes serious medical advice from ANYONE in this forum. as a medical professional myself, i can tell you that it is considered malpractice to give advice in these forums.

I agree, I want to yell out, What is wrong with you people, we are NOT DOCTORS. Some of the Questions leave me mystified, that they are even asking them. But I think its just easier than looking it up and laziness because they might have to read a lot. Or they have no insurance and feel this is there only outlet.
