Why does my hip seem to move in and out of its socket when I walk
My left hip feels like it is popping out of the socket every time I walk. Sometimes it is a little stiff/sore, but otherwise, no serious pain. Also, sometimes my hip will make a really loud popping/cracking sound. My other hip never bothers me. Could I have a serious problem?
Answer:I have had a few serious hip problems....the popping and cracking could definitely be from dislocation...however, i know from my own expereince, the popping and cracking came from a labral tear in the hip joint. Sometimes this tear is really painful, other times, people can go years without knowing they have it. Additionally, it could also be an inflamed iliopsoas tendon which will cause a snapping/popping sensation. Usually stretching is prescribed for an inflamed tendon, maybe physical therapy, cortisone injection, and some anti inflammatory drugs. Depending how aggressive you want to get with diagnostic procedures, you can always get a contrast enhanced MRI to determine exactly what is causing the symptoms you are describing.
"The labrum is the cartilage that lines the hip socket (acetabulum) in which the ball of the hipbone (femur) sits. This cartilage provides stability and cushioning for the hip joint. A tear in the labral cartilage can result from injury or degeneration, such as from osteoarthritis.
Many labral tears cause no signs or symptoms and don't need treatment. However, occasionally, they cause:
A locking or catching sensation in the hip joint
Pain, usually in the hip or groin"
ok that description just really freaked me out, but i think its dislocated, because thats not normal. Dislocations don't always hurt.
be good to see a chiropractor or get a massage. my hip was doing the same thing a couple years ago. they had said becuz i tend the carry my backpack or purse on the same side of my body each time it causes a strain. over time it can cause something in ur body to come out of place. after my sessions were done i felt really great.
