health advisory Hospital Health care 2007-11-14 16:21:55

the area just under the chest area has been hurting. it used to be rare before but now it has gone more commom. its on my left side.i know it is not the stomach because it is above the area the stomach is placed.does anyone have any ideas of what it might be. i get crushed pain .well i dont no how shall i describe it but the area gets crushed with pain and then after a second its alright and then again it hurts!!!!

Answer:

your "chest" may be sore for any numbers of reasons, you may have overstretched yourself during exercise and pulled a muscle (may explain the "crushed pain") or it is most likely some kind of simple infection that will clear up. If it has persisted for a while, it may be worth going to your GP to get a routine check-up. I wouldn't be overly worried if it has only been present for a short while. And I wouldn't bother with NHS Direct/24 as I've heard many people complain about the poor service they have received

Sounds like a chest infection to me, go to your GP and get some anti-biotics.
Go to your GP asap.

any kind of chest pain you should be contacting medical help and advice immediately.
Why not ring NHS Direct for advice?

Get an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible....mention chest pains and you will be seen fast. It might not be serious, but the sooner you get it seen to, the less treatment you'll need. Remember, the cause is never as bad as you think it's going to be!
its true what everyone is saying get a doctors appointment straight away cause its going to take time for them for nhs to see you at the chest clinc cause you know how them things are proper booked up so do it now dont ignore it you dont want anything to get worst. if your a smoker make sure u booked them straight away from now. if it feels a bit like heart burn take gavason i think thats how you spell it but that works good for heart burns.

let me know how it goes

Your stomach is higher than you think. It may be gastritis or similar. You don't say how old you are or if it goes when you take antacids. Go to the doctors and be checked out. You imagine things are going to turn out terribly but things rarely do. Go and then you can stop worrying. Good luck.
Yes Go see yr doc, dont worry thou as stress always exagerates pain, hopefully its sumthin slight, all the best.

Also, i ahve dealings with NHS direct and they have been brilliant - they cant do much over the phone but what they can do, they do !
