Why cant I get any help
I suffer from chronic pain in my right wrist. Years ago I broke my hand in 3 places and have had three surgeries to try and correct the problem. My doc said he diddnt want to give me any pain meds because he doesnt want to destroy my liver and im only 20 yrs old. Then what is the answer? Ive tried over the counter meds and creams and stimulators. Nothing seems to work. Im not trying to scam the doctor so I can abuse the pain medication I just need some type of relief. I am diagnosed with artiritis and I believe I have some nerve damage. Some have told me I can get Vicodain legally from the internet with valid medical records but is that safe or expensive. Please some advice anyone.....
Answer:First of all, you're playing with fire if you start taking Vicodan without monitoring by a health care professional. It is highly addictive and I surely hope there is no open supply source for it.
Pain relief is a major consideration of medicine today. The goal of every medical professional should be relief of patient's pain , as much as possible. Your doctor is right to be concerned, but he needs to make more of an effort to help you. If you have been diagnosed with arthritis, make an appointment with a rheumatologist who has dealt with chronic pain. He/she may be able to offer some solutions. If you think you have nerve damage, try to get an appointment from a neuro-surgeon, although you may need a referral.
Are you taking an NSAID regularly? Do you wear a splint on that wrist at night to keep from banging it around during the night? Wear a splint or ace during the day? Do you ice it down after a long day, then apply heat at bedtime for some relief? Are you seeing an orthopedic surgeon? Different doctors approach problems from different angles and priorities; perhaps it's time you saw another doctor who will start from scratch and have new ideas.
