Whos had a Fractured TibulaIf so how long does it take to mend
I fell awkard at Xcountry running two weeks ago now and my ankle swelled up badly.Next day i could hardly walk so went to Hospital and had xrays to find i had a fractured tibula. They dressed my ankle with a back because of the swelling and gave me painkillers and anti inflamatories and crutches. The following week i was given this special boot strapping for support, which gives me Full mobility now.Its been two weeks since injury and now im wondering how long before this mends and im back to full mobility.
Answer:There's a big difference between fractures of the tibia, a major weight-bearing bone, and the fibula, a lot less problematic. You'll have to pick one. I'm guessing you have a fracture, without significant displacement, of the lateral malleolus, the end of the fibula. You'll be in the boot for a month, and your rehabilitation will be pretty rapid, I'm guessing, but it's somewhat individual.
if they didn't put a full cast on it wont be that bad a fracture could be around six to eight weeks if you have a good physio as well...People heel differently so every answer you get will probably be a rough estimate
Your Dr can answer this much better, especially since he can watch your x-rays etc.
But...
In general, they say at least 6 wks for healing BUT not full mobility. Does you doc or trainer have you doing any physical therapy? It's important in healing so that you will have full range of motion afterwards.
