I've asked some friends and family, but they either have Kaiser or live out of my area.
I have a PPO
Answer:Get a list of available PCP (primary care physician's) in your area and set up initial appointments to meet them. Take note of how long it will take to get in to the office, wait time while you are there, urgent care policies, telephone advise, call in prescription policy and of course the credentials of the provider. Be sure to call the insurance company to see if there are/have been any malpractice suits.
I know this is strange......
Twice in my life I closed my eyes and said a prayer and pointed my finger on a list of doctors and called the one I had pointed to.
Both instances they were JUST right for me.
I would get a list of the doctors that you can go to from your PPO and look at the ones you are willing to travel to. Then I would contact your State Medical Board to find out their medical work history, education, where they interned, and if they have any complaints filed against them. If any one from your work has the same PPO ask them who they recommend. I know that there are also some sites that you can pay to have background checks done on the doctors that are pretty thourough. Hope this at least starts you in the right direction.
