They used Laudinum... technicly thats an herbal preparation. (alcohol and opium)
They didn;'t use much in the way of herbs. They used saws and knives and tied the patient down.
Usually, they didn't even wash thier hands. except to get the blood off.
Survival rate was poor.
Well, they used mustard plasters and Aloe was used when available... that's about all I can think of.
