What do they look for in a back groung test in nursing /cna
When applying for and again upon graduation from any school of nursing/ health of any type, the school will perform a criminal background check as well as fingerprinting and drug testing.
The background check consists mainly, but not limited to:
-felony conviction
-misdemeanor conviction or felony deferred adjudication involving a crime against another person (put plainly--physical or sexual abuse)
-misdemeanor conviction related to moral turpitude (prostitution, public lewdness/exposure, etc.)
-felony deferred adjudication for the sale, possession, distribution, or transfer of narcotics or controlled substances
-registration as a sex offender
Keep in mind it is not limited to these things, depending on the state you live in. But these are the main things most states do include.
Also keep in mind that all allied health and medical schools, because you are involved with direct patient care, have the right to random drug tests, for no announced reason. You must comply and cooperate. Same thing with these background checks. If they have a reason to suspect something and ask you to do another one, you must comply or you're out. Just something to keep in mind as you go along.
Are you thinking of applying to school, or are you alredy in and about to graduate?
Good luck with it, any way.....
thats great!
I think they look for any past arrests and the state records on you, if any, to see if you have any past abuse cases. That was 10 yrs ago when I went through it...now sometimes they add credit checks depending on where you work.
