Answer:The knee jerk reflex is called a myotatic reflex. It represents a relex arc in the nervous system: from the muscle to the afferent nerve to the spinal cord and back to the muscle. If it is decreased it could be a nerve problem (from skin to the spine). If it is increased it could be anxiety or problems affecting the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) If it is asymmetric it helps to localize the neurologic problem
