Vit D is made in the skin by sunlight reaction. it is then converted into another form in the kidney. One is more active then the other. If not labeled, you could do a chemical analysis, but it'd be easier to find it labeled.
Vitamin D2 and Vitamin D3 are different in their chemical structure ,and Vit D2 is found in plants while Vit D3 is in animal sources. Mostly Vit D3 is accessible as medication(separately or in combination with calcium) as this form is more effective at increasing levels of Vit D in human body.
