What is epilepsy How bad will it affect me
I'm so confused...Thanks ya'll!
Answer:Like others have said, epilepsy is a term used for a person who has had more than one seizure. There's many different kinds of seizures. Medication will control them, though your dr. may have to raise or lower the dosage or change meds if a particular one doesn't seem to be right for you. Sometimes having epilepsy can affect whether you're allowed to drive or not. In some places, you have to be seizure-free for 6 months to a year before you're allowed to drive.
Seizures don't have any long-term effects on your memory or thinking skills although accidentally hurting yourself during a seizure is a concern. The people that you will be spending the most time with should know what to do if you have a seizure. If you have convulsions, they shouldn't restrain you or put something in your mouth. They should just put something soft under your head and make sure you don't injure yourself.
At first, it's hard to deal with the fact that you have epilepsy, but you'll find that you can do pretty well the same things that you did before. If it helps, many famous people had epilepsy, including Beethoven, Charles Dickens, Harriet Tubman, Julius Caesar, Joan of Arc, Alexander the Great ..
A condition that causes seizures. There can be many different types of seizures, from the kind that cause you to lose consciousness and "spasm" to the kind that cause staring spells but no loss of consciousness. It is a serious illness but can usually be very well controlled by taking medicine as directed. Also avoid alcohol!
