as far as withdrawls, your body becomes accostomed to metabolizing alcohol ( a sugar) but when starved of it reacts, with shakes, headaches, etc...
Why?
Please read the FACTS about alcohol withdrawal here:

alcohol with-drawl is serious. when southerners drink too much wine regularly, they become dependent. when they try to kick the habit, they get alcohol with-drawl, and their twang becomes so bad it makes their speech sound super-slurred.
Alcohol with drawl is the sign of a southern American who has been drinking. It happens because some Southereners like to drink.
Alcohol withdrawal is a different thing, and is like withdrawal from any addictive substance. It happens because the body is not getting the addictive substance.
it's when u don't have alcohol in your system and u go nuts, feel the need to drink, or can't do your regular activities. if u need alcohol, u r an alcoholic
