Hi, I'm a C.N.A. your heart rate, or pulse rate should or the average rate for an adult is between 60 and 84 beats per minute. If you are scared or had just ran up a flight of stairs it would cause it to go up. Mine is about 120 to 160 and I don't anything to make it go high and my Dr. doesn't seem too worryed about it. I do at times. If your is higher then normal check with your Dr. and see what the problem might be it could be nothing. Better safe then sorry .
