a cold is a virus that usually affects the upper respiratory tract. antibiotics don't kill viruses, therefore get plenty of rest and take paracetamol if you have a temperature and/or sore throat. ibuprofen is great for sore throats too as it is a non-steriod anti-inflammatory.
