My husband has mograines and no meds..he takes 3 advil 3 tylenol does nothing..is there a way he can get some relief?
Answer:Since migraines are caused by the constriction of blood vessels in the brain, anything with a blood thinner will work (alcohol has even worked for me) Even a message on the temples and head can help relieve some of the pain.
Try taking two Excedrin Migraine formula tablets. It helps me.
Lay down in a dark room, close your eyes and rest for about 2-3 hours, it'll go away. It's the only thing that works for me.
He may be getting used to the advil and tylenol.I used to take 3 advil, followed by a very warm washcloth on the head, frequently changed, have himkeep his eyes closed as light sometimes aggravates this conditio. Also, peppermint has the same natural ingredient that they use to make Ibuprofen, the same ingredients used in most painklilers.I try to change painkillers every three months, just to make sure that I do not get used to them.I also do hot, long showers. It could be a combo of stress and sinus problems or even allergies.Try these remedies first. They cost very little and work well for me.If you have a chance visit your local health food store. They will even have more stuff to help you out.Good Luck.
I use the arthritis form of tylenol, and a strong cup of coffee. Excedrin migraine has caffiene in it, so you can try that also, I don't use it because it makes me even sicker, but it might work for your husband, and BTw the dark room and a cold compress also work pretty good in combination with pain medication.
Start by massaging the small of his back and work your way up: Help his muscles to relax. After you relax his shoulders well, massage his neck, then up over his scalp. Then down across his forehead and down around his ears. You might even try massaging in a few drops of peppermint oil on his temples. After that, give him a relaxing tea and a glass of water, then let him rest in a dark place for a while. That's what I have to do with my mother: She has a huge problem with migraines.
He should ask his doc to check for this:
