I believe that origin of this strain of the herpes virus is still unknown. The theories listed on the Wikipedia Site were very interesting to read, but this is not what we learned in our studies. No one really knows where the herpes family of viruses came from and why Chicken Pox usually effects children prior to puberty. This suggests that hormones might activate the virus that some people are born with. I have not had the Chicken Pox though I nursed my 7 siblings through it.
