My left foot has been swelling...I have not injured it or been bitten by anything. What else could be causing swelling in just one foot. If possible please provide link or source...It is not painful, just has a tight stretching feeling to it. But it is very noticable.

Could be anything from a simple strain, to water retention to, - - - - .Yes, Even cancer! get to the doc, quick smart!

Have you seen a doctor about this? Have you taken any steroid medications recently?

*Also, swelling of the legs/feet is a sign of diabetes or heart trouble.

Something similar happened to me back in 1997. It was due to a reaction to taking steroid pills (to help stop an allergic reaction to medication) for two weeks. My legs and feet swelled up a lot, especially my left. My white blood cell count was also very high.

I had to take water pills and go for blood tests until this condition went away 6 months later. My face was puffy for a few years after wards. There is a name for it, but I can't think of it right now, but it is the result of a reaction to steroids. Now I am allergic to all corticosteroids (nasal sprays, etc.).

This may not be what's happening to you, but I would go to the doctor and get yourself checked and tell him/her everything that has happened to you recently.

swelling only occurs in the body when there's been damage to tissue. in this case its probably muscle or joint tissue. it doesn't necessarily take what you would call an injury to make this happen, it is sometimes caused by arthritus or another age related issue that tend to flare up in joints that take a lot of stress over the years such as feet. check out inflammation or arthritus at webmd.com or wikipedia.com for more info

Perhaps a blockage in the lymphatic system. Do you, perhaps, sit on one foot and allow the other to dangle? I know teenagers and thin people sit this way. I wish I was talking about myself! I would try to elevate the swollen foot as much as possible and try cool/warm water soaks.

Could be a deep vein thrombosis (blood clot) blocking the blood flow. Don't mess with it. Go to the doctor.
