What can you give a child that needs a laxative with an upset stomach Pepto is making them constipat
My little girls stomach is upset, but she needs to potty, pepto bismal(?) is making her constipated.
Answer:The safest option is to NOT use a laxative. True laxative such as magnesium solution, senna and mannitol are much to dangerous to use in young children, as they can lose excessive electrolytes and water in the process.
Bulking agents and stool softeners, on the other hand, are reasonably safe AS LONG AS THEY ARE TAKEN WITH ENOUGH WATER. Metamucil (psyllium seed), Citrucel (methycellulose), colace and even oat bran are safe, but take them with a full glass of water for each dose. Mineral oil is probably safe, but most people avoid it because it regular use may prevent absorption of fat soluble vitamins, and because other more pleasant alternatives are available.
The simplest solution, of course, would be to just drink enough water. The body conserves water if its short by reabsorbing it from the colon, and if there is enough water in the body, it will produce stool that is less dry and hard, making it easier to pass.
Good luck and hope she feels better soon. As always, discuss these and any questions with your doctor.
I believe its Fiber that helps clean out the intestine trac.. meaning it makes ya poop. Cranberry juice is also good for this. Good luck!
dont give her pepto . senacot is good. but the natural thing that truly helps is a lot of prune juice and within 12 hours she will be able to go
