What can you get from the toilet seat (Diseases)

I have heard old wives tales, but are there any TRUE cases of diseases being transmitted this way? Also is the "CLAP" the same as clamydia?

Answer:

It's virtually impossible to catch diseases from toilet seats. Whatever microorganisms might lie on the seat's surface very rarely infect or contaminate the skin on your thighs and buttocks. This is especially true of most sexually transmitted infections (STIs) 鈥?the possible, but unlikely, exceptions are crabs (pubic lice), gonorrhea, and skin-to-skin contracted STIs, such as herpes. STIs are mainly spread by having sex and/or genital contact with an infected person.

-I guess theoretically if you sat on feces on the seat, got some on your hands when you wiped yourself, then licked your fingers (mmm, mmm!) you could possibly get hepatitis A

Not much. Crabs maybe, but those type are sexually transmitted. Oprah had a doctor on her show (dr. oz) go to her website and read his articles.
The clap is gonnerhea not clamydia. Toilt seats almost never cause illness unless they are dirty enough to see dirt. You can carry a small bottle of a hand wash and put it on some toliet paper and wipe the seat if it feels safer. Never go into a toilet that has not been flushed. It is best to hold the door open and flush with your foot and stand back for those unseen germs that fly out. The toliet handle is really the worst, someone has just touched the thing with thier dirty hand. Use toliet papaer in your hand to push the handle and open the door. Wash your hands and use that paper towel to open the door to the outside of the bathroom, someone probably did not wash thier hands well.
Public toilet seats have had eveyones *** and their dogs on them and most of the public are very nasty if you have any kind of open sore on you butt ( scratch popped pimple .ect then you could get some pretty bad stuff use the seat protector they wouldn't exist if someone hadn't something. crabs you can get anything
Not even crabs unless the toilet seat has a rough texture. They cannot hold on to a smooth seat. There are very few if any viruses that can live in the air long enough for someone else to sit on them. Some bacteria can live long enough, but no STD's as far as I know... Just wipe the seat and cover it with a cover or with tp... If you are very worried, carry hand santizer and put it on the seat with tp... whatever you do... please don't pee standing up... I hate it when I go into a public stall and there is pee on the seat because someone was afraid to sit on it... Hello! people who pee standing up are the problem! How many times have you peed on the seat while sitting down? Anyway... I'm done with my rant... Heh, I wasn't trying to suggest the you pee on the seat either, btw.
Clap at one time was used for people who got syphilis but now alot of times it is used for any VD, including gonorrhea although I have never heard it used for chlamydia. There are many germs on a toilet seat. First of all, close the lid when flushing so germs don't get stirred up and put in the air-and on toothbrushes! Secondly, fecal germs can go through 7 layers of toilet tissue so wash hands with soap and water after going to the bathroom. Also, use HOT water to wash underwear, not lukewarm or cool just to save energy. I cannot think of any diseases a person could get by sitting on a toilet seat.
I do not think you can really catch anything from a toilet seat, but just to be on the safe side, wipe the seat down, cover it with paper towels, there is also a toilet seat cover that you can place over the seat, that you can purchace and carry along with you. I do not like going in public toilets all to much so if the need arises I usually wipe the seat down and cover it.
If it were likely at all, I would have had hundreds of infections by now, as I travel extensively and am forced to use toilets in hotels, airports, etc. Don't worry about it.
