I realize cancer depends on many different factors, including family history and genetics. I can't affect those aspects. But what CAN I do, while I'm still seemingly young and healthy, to reduce the risk of cancer when I am older?

The mistake you are making right now could cost you your life. Anyone at any age can develop cancer. You could be diagnosed with cancer next week or tomorrow. No one knows when or how they might develop cancer (there are hundreds of different types). You need to start checking yourself now for anything unusual, get regular checkups, eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, stay away from smoking and drinking as much as possible (moderation is the key) . . otherwise there is not much you can do. No one knows why one person will develop cancer while someone else will not. The best defense seems to be offense . . maintain a healthy lifestyle . . and than forget about it and enjoy life.

Eat very healthily. Lots of vegetables. You can think of veggies as cancer fighters. Eat a balanced diet and stay away from chemicals in your food and environment.

Exercise and stress reduction helps keep your body tip top for fighting infections etc.

Use sunscreen and get annual full body skin checks to watch out for skin cancer. Monitor for any changes in moles.

Monthly breast self exams- men get breast cancer too.

Men can learn to self examine the testicles too.

Meditation, positive visualization and prayer. Laughter and friends!
