What beverages can I drink with slightly increased blood sugar

I am taking a medication that increases my blood sugar and want to avoid diabetes. Can I drink fruit juices without added sugar? I don't like diet sodas. Thanks.

Answer:

I have type 1 diabetes, so I am always worried about what what to drink without the cinsequence of high blood sugar. Fruit2O is really good, so is Crytal Light. Diet Soda really isn't good for anyone, be careful of artificial sweeteners because they can do wacky things to your blood sugar. PLain water is really a good choice, and diet iced tea dosent taste any different than regular. You can also find a lot of sugarfree juices in the grocery store. I would recommend those.

Talk to a dietician :) they will be happy to answer in detail.
I suggest crystal light, it has no carbohydrates and i believe little or no calories. You can also look into Propel, manufactured by Gatorade, it only has 10 calories. Other sport drink companies also manufacture similar products. Another drink I love its Fruit 2 O, it has no calories and no carbs.

Fruits are natural starches and even natural, no-sugar added, fruit juices contain carbohydrates, so even those juices will raise your blood sugar.

I do suggest talking to you nutritionist for other alternatives, because water does get boring really fast, and just always look at the label of beverages, look for low carb and low calorie drinks.
