What are the ten ways to identify the worms in the laboratory
I'm not sure if ten is the exact number for either, but do you mean tests for the presence of intestinal parasites, or characteristics to identify them?
Tests:
There's the cellophane tape prep for pinworm
Zinc sulfate flotation
Formalin ethyl acetate sedimentation
direct fecal wet mount
stained fecal smear
macroscopic fecal exam, for lager parasites
Serology testing for parasitic antibodies / blood smear for eosinophilia.
Those are the eight I can think of...
As for characteristics of the worms, it varies by species. Add more details to your question, or email me with the specifics, and I'll see if there's anything more I can dig up for you.
Hmmm here goes.
1. By sight- oh look worms!
2. By smell- sniff sniff, hmm smells like worms in here.
3. By hearing- I hear a wiggly noise- must be worms.
4. By touch- look what I found! A worm.
5. By asking the unknown specimin- excuse me, are you a worm?
6. By asking a professor- What do you recon this is Dr Smith. Well it appears to be a worm.
7.By ESP- ohhhhmmmm I feel the presence of a worm in this laboratory.
8.By looking for clues- over here are some worm holes, and over here some dirt mounds.
9. To find an empty or full 'can of worms' can on the lab bench.
10. by going to this site for a paracitology lab: http://cal.vet.upenn.edu/paraav/labs/lab...
Sorry for all the humor, but I couldn't resist! Hope the site is helpful for you. It's a U Penn Paracitology site.
