i want to get a tattoo but i just found out that they can give you a std and i want to know how i want to be careful when i get this tattoo. but now that i have learned that i am rethinking what should i do!?!

Answer:

The only STD you can get from getting a tattoo is hepatitis B and C, and HIV. This only happens if the person is using a dirty needle though that has been used on someone else who has either virus.

Since tattoo instruments come in contact with blood and bodily fluids, diseases may be transmitted if the instruments are used on more than one person without being sterilized. However, infection from tattooing in clean and modern tattoo studios employing single-use needles is rare. In amateur tattoos, such as those applied in prisons, however, there is an elevated risk of infection.

I think its very low.

Just make sure that they are using a new needle and clean equipment.

Ask to watch them get a clean on oyt.

Ugh, the people telling you this are just trying to freak you out.

The only STDs that you can possibly get are Hepititis and HIV. The chances of you getting ANY disease from a tattoo are microscopic, since tattoo parlors are actually monitored REALLY closely by the health department.

The best ways to find out which tattoo parlors in your area are safest are:

1. Ask people who have tattoos about their experiences in different places.
