whoi will hold their breath longer under water?

Answer:

some people who smoke(18-25 yr old marines) demonstrate greater endurance IF the exercise- test is done at a few kft above sea level,,,,,,,because of oxygen carrying red cells is greater than that of non smoky stovers,,,,,,,still,i'll say the 12 yr old can stay under longer

It depends on a lot of factors, like lung capacity, your blood's oxygen carrying capacity, resting heart rate, etc.

So, it could go either way.

As an avid scuba diver, and a smoker I can tell you this: Holding ones breath has a lot to do with conditioning. I cannot hold my breath for as long as another diver who doesn't smoke. However, I can hold my breath for longer than most people.
