An arrhythmia is a disturbance of the normal rhythm of the heart.

There are several causes of arrhythmia, such as the sinoatrial node (SAN) firing more quickly or slowly (sometimes both) or another part of the heart taking over the job of the SAN.

underlying heart disease

heart valve problems

thyroid disease

high blood pressure

Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome

side-effects of some drugs

consuming caffeine

smoking

drinking excess alcohol

low levels of potassium in the blood (hypokalaemia)

Sometimes there may be no known cause for an arrhythmia.

Lots of problems like if the blood does'nt flow regularly inside heart by a block ,hole and if blood flow is restricted to the heart or if there is some harmonal imbalance any organ misfunctioning , there would be imbalance of heart beat

The causes of an irregular heart beat is maybe due to defective conduction system of the heart,heart beating slow in heart block and heart beating fast in atrial flutter or it could be high in potassium which increases HR and low potassium level makes HR slow.
