What are the best anti biotics to treat a sinus infection

What are the best antibiotics with minimal side effects to treat a sinus infection?

Answer:

A sinus INFECTION is not viral, as previous poster says - it's a bacterial INFECTION.

I recommend Zithromax, if for no other reason than simply that it's often only ONE DOSE. I always hate having to take antibiotics for nearly two weeks, when the symptoms cleared up long ago.

Usually none, since they're most often viral.

Follow-up: I'm not sure where KristenCO gets her information, but infections can be by bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi, or prions.

the kind your doctor prescribes you.
dilute apple cider vinegar with water (1/3 to 2/3) and drink twice per day for 6 consecutive days, or just until infection is gone.

.

I suggest going down to your local Natural med or food store- GNC to find something called Colloidal Silver. I guarantee your sinuses will clear up within 2-3 days. We have been using it in our family for years. They use in the hospitals in the burn wards. It is a natural antibiotic that has no taste, no side effects, safe to take with no tummy upset. Put it in a little juice. Or you can also use it up your nose too.
augmentin is a strong antibiotic but mostly they'll prescribe zithromax, I am extremely allergic to pollen so I'm on Predisone.. it's a corticosteriod..it works really good..
For sinus infections they usually just give you Septra or Septra DS
Zithromax, Biaxin, Levaquin...
