What are child symptoms of torrets syndrom
I'm taking him to the doctor tomorrow I thought only allergies and even gave my 4year son rewetting eyedrops but he has been blinking his eyes for about a week and a half. I dont know if i'm being paranoid but i don't know alot about torrets and am inpatient. Why would they prescribe a child adhd medication to a child that has torrets. If my docter thinks he needs to go to a nuerolgist what am i in for??
Answer:It's Tourette's syndrome and here is a good link for you to read

I am sorry to say that a friend of mine had tourette's syndrome (this is the correct spelling) and died in a car accident recently. Just blinking his eyes is no guarantee of tourette's, although it is a possible symptom; the same way coughing or sneezing is a symptom of many things. It could be obsessive-compulsive disorder, where the person in question has irresistible urges to do certain things. tourette's usually manifests itself in many ways, usually vocal and sometimes in a motor function (blinking eyes) here is a link so you can learn more.

Tourettes Syndrome can and usually is diagnosed by a neurologist, often referred to by a pediatrician. Some kids with
Tourtettes have O.C.D./A.D.H.D. also. Some of the symptoms are eye blinking, head jerking, any involuntary sudden movements that are repetitive in nature. You are right to take your child to the doc;it may/may not be Tourettes.
There are so many symptoms, too many too mention.Although some people have mild cases barely noticeable.Your Doc will lead you int he right direction.
As for the reason your doc is giving meds, that is her/his rationale however;many of the meds today are multi purpose.
there is no medicine for tourettes syndrome,at least that cures it however, since many cases have other conditions also that's where the meds come in.Tourettes by far is not the scariest or worst neurological problem, although to a parent it can seem like it.Good Luck and keep seeking answers in the Medical Community.
