Answer:

MedlinePlus has information about hundreds of diseases and conditions. I looked up fibromyalgia in the Encyclopedia and found this:

Fibromyalgia is a common condition characterized by long-term, body-wide pain and tender points in joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues. Fibromyalgia has also been linked to fatigue, morning stiffness, sleep problems, headaches, numbness in hands and feet, depression, and anxiety.

Specific symptoms:

* Multiple tender areas (muscle and joint pain) on the back of the neck, shoulders, sternum, lower back, hips, shins, elbows, knees.

* Fatigue

* Sleep disturbances

* Body aches

* Reduced exercise tolerance

* Chronic facial muscle pain or aching

You can also look up Fibromyalgia under Health Topics and it gives slightly different info and resources.

Doctors don't know what causes fibromyalgia, but people with Lyme disease are often misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia.

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which is not curable, you should consider Lyme disease, especially if you live in a tick-infested area. Go to a Lyme expert member of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society, because Lyme IS curable, at least in theory, even if you have had it a long time. Since it's a bacterial infection, it is treated with antibiotics.

If you decide to explore this possibility, check out the Flash Discussion at LymeNet. The people there are very helpful.

Pain all over, fatigue and depression. My aunt was recently diagnosed. I was able to obtain some info for her from WebMd.
depression, weight gain,muscle and joint pain, tired, no joy in life.
This website might be of some help.

I was surprised to learn how hard this

disease is on the patient. I hope this

is of some help to explain what they may

go through.

Having Fibromyalgia does not mean that one is always depressed I have the diagnosis, and suffer with pain, but I take low dose antidepressants and it helps. Fibro is also often diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which for me is more difficult to deal with. CFS can now be diagnosed with a knowledgeable Dr. through MRI.

I have both as well as another chronic illness. Trying the best that I'm able and take each day as it comes.
