What all can Celiac Disease cause

I've had Celiac disease for about 3 years and my doctor said I could try eating gluten again. When I started eating it my eyes became red and swollen, and I just kinda seem to hurt all over. Does anyone know if it's from eating gluten or not?

Answer:

Run, do not walk, to the phone and find another doctor!! If you have Celiac Disease, it is a LIFELONG INCURABLE disease! BUT it is not a scary disease to have! The only thing you have to do is NOT eat gluten! Now if you have an allergy to gluten, that is different, some ppl can 'outgrow' allergies but to be sure you'd need to see an allergist and if u are truly allergic to wheat or gluten you must be VERY careful not to eat it without supervision bc if u are truly allergic you could go into anaphalytic shock.

NO doctor worth their salt who understands CD should EVER tell a patient to eat gluten again! That is old schooll thikning when doc thought CD was rare and only a childhood disease. NOT SO! It is an extremely common autoimmune disease affecting 1 in 133 ppl! That is a lot of ppl! And it is LIFELONG! Certainly your symtpoms can lessen but most ppl with CD find that once they go gluten free, if they eat just a tiny bit it effects them much worse than before.
