Ulcer or what
I had been having gasy and bloating sensaions in he right side of my abdomen and was initially scared there was something wrong with my liver. Im kind of a hypochondriate...went to the doc and he gave me prevacid saying my liver didn feel inflamed and that mos likely it was acid problems in my stomach. (Ive had a history of it as does most of my family) I took the meds and felt better. Howver, I ran ou and stopped aking them and the feeling came back so I got some prilosec which is suppose to be the same thing as prevacid, so i was told. But the prilosec doesn't seem to be working as well as the prevacid..could i have developed an ulcer?
Answer:Prevacid and Prilosec have a different chemistry. Even though they are both proton
pump inhibitors, one may work faster than the
other one considering it builds up in the body
faster to start to work. If the doctor prescribed
Prevacid and it works, it is best to stay on that
drug and not stop it unless the doctor tells you
to. It is important that you take the full
course of this drug to have the effect the
doctor wants. I would call his office for a refill
and another appointment so he can decide
if you need testing to see what exactly it is
you have wrong. If he has you do blood work,
he can see if your liver function is good from
the results of the blood test.
You "may" not have an ulcer. This could be
