Trichomonas

health advisory Hospital Diseases 2007-11-12 20:37:19

I was diagnosed with trichomonas back in 2002. I've had the same partner since 2001. I have just been diagnosed with it again. I took all of the medication back in 01'. Does this mean my partner has been with someone else that infected him? Not sure if he took all of his medication back in 2002.

Could I get it any other way if I took all of the medication and if

I've only been with him?

Answer:

here is a link to the cdc factsheet.

You will have to ask your partner about his behavior as no one else on this forum can honestly answer that question.

You can get trich from sitting in a spa- as the protist can survive if the water isn't hot enough. You could have gotten it if your partner did not take all of his medicine. There are several possibilities
It's possible that your partner has contracted it again and transmitted it to you. And while you can contract this parasite in warm, moist environments like a hot tub, it's more likely that it was transmitted by your partner. Perhaps it's time for a serious talk.
If you have been faithful, then you had to have gotten it from your partner. I've never heard of trichomonas being "dormant" for 5 years.
