Treatment used for blood clot behind the eye

health advisory Hospital Diseases 2007-11-12 20:37:19

i have been for and eye test and was told I had had a bleed behind the eye,my dr said it was not a bleed but a clot. I am now being sent to hospital, and would like to know how this is treated. I am also having blood test for the normal diabetic etc.

My b.p was normal.

Answer:

I have a friend who's had several operations on her eye and she says it's not pleasant but it's not painful or anything like that so try not to worry about that xxx I think sometimes these things just happen so it is not necessarily a symptom of diabetes etc. but it's good that they are checking just in case! If you are going into hospital then the most likely opp is with a laser - it will seal the burst blood vessel to stop the bleed.

Good luck - hope all goes ok xxx

It will probably be treated with medication. There are clot busting drugs that are given for DVT, heart attacks etc, so my guess is this is what they will do, will probably be given by injection
sometimes they treat with warferin in uk they do that will thin your blood also can give you something to brake the clot up
MORE THAN LIKELY TO BE TREATED BY LASER.. I HAVE THE SAME PROB BUT THEY DONT WANT TO DO IT YET. THEY WILLPUT SPECIAL EYE DROPS THAT WILL STOP ANY PAIN, I WAS TOLD THE PROCEDURE IS PAINLESS.
I know that the others are correct in using the anticoagulants to break up clots, but you should have blood work done to determine the cause. I know of quite a few people with a disorder who have had clots behind the eye.
