Topamax Any ecperience with this drug for migrains

has anyone taken topamax for migrains? its a sizure medication that has just been aproved for migrain prevention treatment. I been looking it up on the internet and reading up on it but im mostly worried about sexual side effects and weight side effects. any info you could give would be great ex did it work for you, side effects you experienced etc thankS!!
Answer:I know a person who takes it for weight loss.. It apparently works wonders to curb hunger, but I personally have not taken it... You need a doctors prescription...
I have had migraines since I was a teen. Topamax is suppose to be a preventaive medicine for Migraines, but I had no luck with it. I didn't really experience any side effects, but the medicine does not prevent the migraines anyway. Medicine that will help when you get a migraine are Imitrex and Zomax. Zomax is great because it is a one time use inhalant so the effects are pretty quick. I would rather the migraines never come back, but have had no cure. Best you can do is put a cold towel over your forehead and eyes and sleep it off.
topamax is a wonder drug! i was on topamax for about 2-3 years for migraines after i first started college. before i on topamax i was having migraines that would last for up to 2 weeks, at least once a month. once i started topamax plus a low dose birth control pill to control my hormone levels during my period, and it was like night and day to what i had been going through. i also lost about 25 lbs over 6 months not even trying. draw backs though: you can become resistant to it, after about 3 years i did, but i was then soon after able to stop treatment and did not need anything but the low dose birth control pill to control my harmones during my period in relation to my migraines. also it can make your hair start to thin, this though i didn't mind, it wasn't severe and i had thick unruly hair to begin with so it was just another plus to me. then the weight loss side effect of the topamax is not long term. i will also add that if you happen to be on the pill for birth control reasons, you will need to use a second method because it can decrease its effectiveness. all in all i highly recommend it!
